Spirit Energy was created in 2017 following the combination of Centrica’s Exploration & Production business and Bayerngas Norge AS. The business is 69%-owned by Centrica plc, with the remaining 31% owned by Bayerngas Norge’s former shareholders, led by Stadtwerke München and Bayerngas GmbH.
Spirit Energy’s Norwegian operations were established in 2006 and have grown into a substantial business with about 60 licences on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, of which 20% are operated. Spirit Energy has built its Norwegian portfolio through success in licence rounds, exploration and acquisitions.
With ownership in 12 producing fields in Norway, Spirit Energy produces approximately 95,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. Spirit Energy also operates one producing field, Vale. Currently, Spirit Energy is involved in four development projects on the Norwegian Continental Shelf: Oda and Fogelberg, both operated, and Maria and Skarfjell as partner.
Oda-feltet er Spirit Energys første egenopererte felt på norsk sokkel som kommer i produksjon.
2017 production from the combined portfolios is expected to be around 50 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMboe) from 27 producing fields, and total 2016 year end 2P reserves and 2C resources were 625 MMboe.
The company employs more than 700 people in the UK, Norway, Netherlands and Denmark.
Spirit Energy has operated and non-operated interests across the UK, Norway, the Netherlands and Denmark, with 27 producing fields and more than 70 exploration licenses.
