A digital trailblazer paves the way for others, creating a substantial impact and serving as a precursor to further digital innovation and value creation in the subsurface geoscience community.

At the upcoming Dig X Subsurface conference in Oslo in March, we will present the winner of the Digital Trailblazer Award 2024.

We are pleased to announce that Jesse Lord, Lead – Product Strategy at Kadme, is one of the nominees.

Lord graduated from the Deakin University and moved to Norway around 15 years ago. He has held several positions in Stavanger and elsewhere before joining Kadme in 2017.

Working at Kadme, Jesse has been integral in providing data solutions for the companies on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, first as a Technical Account Manager and since 2021 as a part of the management team.

He has played a major role in utilizing the latest AI and machine learning technologies to improving the geoscientist’s ability to retrieve the correct information. One example would be Kadme’s collaboration on reverse image search with ConocoPhillips.

In early 2023, Lord started the company Fabriq, and together with the Norwegian Offshore Directorate, they launched one of the first generative AI solutions for the energy industry in May 2023. The tool utilized the power of large language models and semantic search on published relinquishment reports.

Jesse Lord is experienced in the design, delivery, and management of technical solutions and services, and believes that it is vital to understand the business challenges clients and stakeholders are facing.

Those who have had the pleasure of collaborating with Jesse describe him as open-minded, and eager to share his knowledge. He tries hard – and succeeds – in understanding his client’s wishes, even though they often speak two different “languages”, i.e. computer and subsurface geology. In discussions, Lord has helped people find new solutions and come up with new and better ideas than what was originally laid out.

Jesse Lord stands out by his unique ability to quickly see the potential applications of new AI technologies and turn them into practical products for the petroleum and energy industry.
