For det første er funnet et nytt bevis for at EM-teknololgien er uovertruffen i Barentshavet. Igjen og igjen har det blitt vist at betydelige funn er assosiert med EM-anomali.

For det andre har Statoil bekreftet en ny letemodell. Det er ikke noe nytt at reservoar blir påvist i kritt vifter, men i dette havområdet er det første gang at det blir gjort funn av kommersielle mengder med olje. Men som andre har påpekt tidligere: Denne brønnen hadde neppe blitt boret uten en klar EM-anomali.

The volumes are lower than what we have said, but I guess they are very uncertain since they have not found the OWC. «There has to be stratigraphic elements to this trap… the findings of oil in poor/moderate quality sands could be in full alignement with the well being drilled on the side of the strongest resistivity response. A tentative pinch out could easily fit the observations. As Pål points out maybe they are up for more pleasant surprises…in the heart of the EM response…!!! Etter funnet på Kayak, og på tross av skuffelsen på Blåmann («Skuffende lite»), bør EM være obligatorisk i jakten på nye prospekter. Oljedirektoratet bør sågar vurdere å kreve at EM brukes i evaluteringen av alle nye lisenser i Barentshavet.
