Four wells have been drilled in the syn-rift section in the Upper Jurassic Hekkingen / Lower Cretaceous Knurr formations in the Hammerfest Basin, but only small amounts of oil have been found. Can CSEM-technology contribute to the exploration efficiency in this area? Since 2008, multi-client CSEM data has been acquired in parts of the Hammerfest Basin where the Upper Jurassic/Lower Cretaceous syn-rift section may play a role in exploration.
Stein Fanavoll, EMGS, will adress this topic at next weeks conference “Recent Advances in Exploration Technology & NCS Prospect Fair” at Fornebu.
