Results from drilling Gemini North and Korpfjell are in line with predictions based on integrated interpretation of P-Cable and seep data.
Mikal Trulsvik concludes that P-Cable 3D seismic and seep anomalies are very useful tools for risking presence and quality of reservoir and hydrocarbon phase.

Gemini North and Korpfjell were the first two Barents Sea prospects that were drilled with both high-resolution P-Cable 3D seismic and VBPR/TGS seafloor geochemical data.
In a presentation at the forthcoming Hydrocarbon Habitat seminars in Oslo October 24 and Stavanger October 26, Mikal Trulsvik in VBPR concludes that these data provides useful case studies for evaluating pre-drill predictions based on integrated interpretation of such data.

More than 850 km2 of 3D and 6770 km of 2D wide-azimuth multi-client P-Cable seismic data were acquired in the Barents Sea in 2012, 2014 and 2015. In 2014, TGS and VBPR also collected 453 seafloor samples for seep and stratigraphic analyses in the Hoop and Barents SE areas.

Seismic tie to exploration wells in the Hoop area documents vertical resolution down to five meters.
The top and base of the Stø Formation are therefore well imaged, as well as individual sandy and shaly facies within the Nordmela and Fruholmen formations, Trulsvik claims.

Results of the  wells on the Gemini North and Korpfjell prospects in the Hoop and Haapet Dome areas are in line with predictions based on integrated interpretation of P-Cable and seep data: 1) presence and good quality reservoir sands in the Stø Formation, 2) an active petroleum system, and 3) oil in the Gemini North well.
Trulsvik concludes that P-Cable 3D seismic and seep anomalies are very useful tools for risking presence and quality of reservoir and hydrocarbon phase in undrilled prospects in the Hoop and Bjarmeland Platform areas.

    Lessons learned. Way Forward.
