The Wisting Central discovery well was drilled in the Hoop Fault Complex of the Barents Sea in Aug/Sep 2013. The acreage (PL537) was awarded to OMV Norge as operator in 20th Round (2009), now with partners Idemitsu, Tullow Oil, Statoil and Petoro. It had (and still has) a multi play exploration potential and came in with light oil in good Realgrunnen reservoir. Since the discovery, two more wells have been drilled, one targeting Triassic and another successful appraisal well in the Hanssen segment. This report is a summary of post discovery G&G work aiming to pin down the lateral variation of reservoir and fluid properties, i.e. porosity, water saturation and shale content in Realgrunnen, using geological insight in combination with a range of geophysical data and technologies.
