The tour starts with a day at the Jurassic Konservat-Lagerstätte in Solnhofen, home of the exceptional Archaeopteryx, displayed in a brand new museum. We continue to the beautiful karst landscape of the Swabian Alb (title picture) and spend 2 days in one of the most various and spectacular Geoparks worldwide. We will visit unique fossil sites, volcanic vents and even a meteorite crater under the special guidance of the Geopark’s CEO a.d. The tour then continues northwards with a visit to the gemstone mines of Idar-Oberstein, the only gemstone mines in all of Europe that are open for visitors. The Geotour concludes with a visit to the Grube Messel, famous for being Ida’s graveyard, where we will look over the shoulders of the local paleontologists at the excavation sites.

The tour will be accomplished in a luxurious bus, so we can enjoy the short trips between the geological sights as well. And since we also want to have outstanding cultural experiences, the tour ends with a visit to the world famous Oktoberfest in Munich (optional).
